Quaker Houghton to Showcase Fluid Intelligence Solutions at FABTECH 2023

The production of chemical solutions for coatings, surface treatments, lubrication solutions, and cooling applications is a cornerstone of the metalworking industry. With the advent of initiatives based on information technology and Industry 4.0, the performance of such solutions is scaling to previously unthinkable levels.

Such is the case of Fluid Intelligence, a solution created by Quaker Houghton, consisting of a system of measurement, control, and optimization of fluids to reduce downtime, maintain maintenance actions, and increase efficiency and quality in production.

Based on the idea of Industry 4.0, this concept will be presented at Fabtech 2023 following a clear industrial trend in which computing has a greater scope in production, both in continuous processes and manufacturing.

Javier Rodríguez, Business Development Manager of Heat Treatments of Quaker Houghton, explained that Fabtech Mexico presents most of its commercial partners dedicated to the metalworking industry of practically all branches, such as automotive, aerospace, steel, and appliances. “FABTECH brings suppliers and customers in the industry, forming a solid relationship year after year.”

Rodriguez says that, although Quaker merged with Houghton in 2019, the firm has many decades of experience; only Houghton has more than 150 years in the market, practically as a response to the emergence of the oil industry. “We sell and develop chemicals, mostly fluids, for various industries such as automotive, aeronautics, steel, and metalworking. We supply polymers for heat treatments, forging oils, fluid chemicals for the automotive industry, and specialty chemicals for cast iron operations.”

At the event, to be held next May in Mexico City, they will present preventive corrosion solutions and treatment oils with specialists in different industrial market segments. But without a doubt, the icing on the cake will be the incorporation of the Fluid Intelligence concept, a platform based on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0, which will allow companies to monitor their chemical processes of coating, operation or surface treatment to obtain accurate and instantly relevant data related to the performance of their chemical products. Which will allow them to improve their useful life, achieve maximum optimization and get more accurate data on their performance.

Quaker Houghton invests 3% of its revenues in R&D, and, in Mexico, they have a factory in Nuevo León, where almost 20 thousand tons of chemicals are produced each year; To which are added three laboratories in other latitudes of the country, which are dedicated to research, quality and testing of after-sales products.
