With integrated manufacturing cells, Daihen is prepared for FABTECH 2023

In addition to requiring high-end technology, developing integrated manufacturing cells in production processes is vital for competitiveness.

Daihen is a Japanese manufacturer of integrated systems with robots specialized in welding, dynamic multiprocess machines, and turnkey solutions. Irais Barrera, Sales Engineer at Daihen Mexico, highlights how relevant FABTECH Mexico is to the industry and explains that the company will be presented in 2023 with integrated manufacturing cells.

“Fabtech is a forum where we can show our integral robotic and welding systems to the end-user or our distributors,” says Barrera. “Users can see our technology firsthand and use it on site, as we have demonstration applications of manual machines to familiarize them with them.” While Daihen works on a well-drawn technology and solutions guideline, FABTECH Mexico allows them to learn about other market trends and ensure we “are not in a bubble.”

Daihen’s technology is focused on the seam, that is, on considering the appearance pleasing to the eye but from a precise control in penetration and with high quality.  In addition, its technology allows real-time process monitoring, an optional service that can be implemented to trace the equipment in operation and operator information, including the time of use, the parameters used, the welded part, the microwire used, and the time in which it was made.

“All the information is collected to analyze microwire consumption, operating times, process efficiency, and the personnel involved in each operation,” explains Barrera. “You can graph all the information based on the needs of each client.”

Daihen’s robotic systems have evolved and now have 6-axis equipment that gives them greater access to a part in a welding process, making it more efficient and reducing production times. In addition, Daihen offers a positioner that facilitates the welding of the base part using robotic arms.

Daihen also offers prefabricated cells that can be added to current welding processes. It is adapting them to operations so that turnkey solutions are obtained. This is an exciting opportunity for companies looking to automate their processes, especially when the industry suffers from a workforce shortage.

“Companies are migrating from manual to automated processes, even in small and medium-sized companies,” says Barrera. “Daihen sees this as an opportunity as we offer complete systems, from welding equipment and robots to torches and consumables. These are solutions that few companies can offer from end to end.” At FABTECH 2023, Daihen will introduce Welbee machines with an update to their faceplates. Previously they were analog and are now entirely digital, in addition to torches that allow the control of parameters from the command. But, most important, specialists from the Japanese company will be at the stand, ready to receive visitors and create welding solutions from integrated cells for manufacturing.
