Euchner will introduce industrial safety innovations aimed at Industry 4.0 at FABTECH 2023

Metalworking is one of the most critical industries in Mexico, and its development is closely linked to vital sectors such as automotive. For this reason, FABTECH is crucial for countries manufacturing economy, as they bring end users from the metalworking industry together with machine manufacturers, integrators, and automation and robotics specialists to share technologies and generate business driven by new technologies.

One of the automotive industry’s most critical aspects is environmental care, the safety of processes for people, and social responsibility. Understanding these requirements, Euchner, a German company with 70 years in the market and eight years of presence in Mexico, will introduce state-of-the-art safety technology for industrial machinery.

Euchner works from two different angles. On the one hand, it offers training and close work with users to transmit knowledge about the need for safety and its benefits to machines. On the other hand, the company provides automation solutions so that the machines can be safe and avoid accidents without depending on the people to guarantee their safety: devices do it for them.

In this sense, poka-yoke-type systems are human error-proof and avoid dangerous actions by users. With top safety automation systems, such as suitable sensors, machines will prevent accidents.

Euchner has a wide range of automation equipment, such as sensors and open-door/closed-door detection devices, to help make machines safe. In addition, it offers risk analysis and machine review services to integrate safety solutions. This training also ensures that the new machinery complies with safety provisions. To do this, they work directly with suppliers reviewing the designs before machines are delivered.

At FABTECH México 2023, Euchner will be focused on three different topics. First, a full range of digital security equipment under the Industry 4.0 platform through the I/O Link communication protocol, which allows companies’ equipment to determine and report its status, such as the number of cycles left, how long a team has to be changed, supply voltage levels, temperature levels monitoring, etcetera. This is sent to a display in a control system to reduce maintenance costs and fault resolution times.

Euchner will also launch a Safety Academy with a course compilation to help formalize and professionalize machine safety knowledge for plant engineers, machine builders, or consultants. These courses are registered with the STPS (Mexican Secretary of Labor Safety), so the certificates issued will be official.

The third point is the presentation of the conference Safety in Machines as an Investment Project, in which they will analyze the costs of plant accidents, seeking to propose a return-on-investment scheme from eliminating risks and machine stoppages thanks to safety automation solutions.

With the presentation of these three topics at FABTECH México 2023, Euchner is looking to reinforce its leadership in industrial and machine safety in Mexico and Latin America, offering automation and training solutions to guarantee security and environmental care in the metalworking industry.
