What kind of technology does the manufacturing industry need in Mexico?

FABTECH Mexico became the flagship for metal forming, manufacturing, welding, and metal finishing, because of the high technological specialization and the support of industrial’s key organizations. FABTECH is the only event of its kind, with an exhibition model that brings attendance from all manufacturing regions of Mexico. The event will take place at Centro Banamex exhibition center from May 16 to 18, 2023; expecting to gather, as every year, more than 10,000 manufacturers.

Mexico’s manufacturing industry development has generated a growing need for better manufacturing technology. The effects created by the strategic relocation of manufacturing (reshoring) in the United States and the adjustments to the free trade agreement of the three North American countries, USMCA, brought opportunities for companies established on Mexican soil, opportunities that also demand greater productivity, flexibility, and quality; and technology is essential for this.

FABTECH Mexico has developed an environment for learning, networking, updating, and business links around the latest technology and services for metal forming, manufacturing, welding, and finishing processes,

which includes aspects such as automation, digitalization, and quality improvement management in metalworking processes under the umbrella of Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME ), Precision Metal forming Association (PMA), American Welding Society (AWS) and Chemical Coatings Association International (CCAI).

More than 10,000 manufacturing professionals attend FABTECH Mexico each year, having access to experts (some of them with a very high level) and thereby broadening their vision of the exhibited technology during the event by the more than 300 exhibiting companies.

More than 85% of the attendees are decision-makers on technology purchasing from companies that, more than 50%, have a workforce of more than 100 employees, reflecting the level of requirements and purchases they are seeking.

As an itinerant show between the cities of Mexico and Monterrey, there is greater accessibility of companies from all over the country. In the case of Monterrey, over 60% of the attendees come from Nuevo Leon, with a strong presence from other states such as Coahuila and Chihuahua, but receiving attendees from the rest of the country, mainly central Mexico. In the case of Mexico City, it is the opposite; since local assistance is also higher than 60%, more assistants from the Bajio states (San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Guanajuato, and Aguascalientes), Puebla, and Hidalgo.

FABTECH in Mexico City is vital since the region is, by far, the economically most robust entity, with almost 18% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Mexico (State of Mexico and Nuevo Leon are the 2nd and 3rd economies, 9%, and 8% respectively). By adding the states close to Mexico City, the region’s value rises to almost 40% of the country’s economy. States such as Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, the State of Mexico, and Mexico City have significant industrial activity. Only these last two states concentrate 18% percent of the productive units, 11% of which are in the State of Mexico (61,840).

Thanks to this territorial presence, FABTECH Mexico covered the country’s most critical manufacturing regions and industries. Attendees come from automotive, machinery, construction, manufacturing, tooling, air conditioning, aerospace, appliances, and energy.

FABTECH Mexico is conformed of four large pavilions, Forming and Manufacturing, Metalforming, Welding, and Finishing, in which machinery and manufacturing equipment will be available according to the needs of the sectors mentioned above. In the show, there will be a great diversity of Presses, with capacities in tonnage according to each stamping and die-cutting application, as well as servo presses, which have gained much ground in Mexico due to the precision and energy savings offered. Another great attraction is the wide offer of laser cutting equipment, which allows companies to save time in setups and reduce the number of operations for cutting metal sheets, in addition to generating significant material saving by using advanced CAD software, reducing scrap and thus costs.

Welding and oxy-cutting equipment are also usually among the most popular technologies in FABTECH, as long as they present live performances with manufacturing applications in which attendees often participate, experimenting with the tools. And, as if it were a production process, it ends in the metal finishing pavilion, with state-of-the-art chemical products and processes that allow manufacturers to achieve surface finishes that are increasingly demanded by quality standards and increased precision in mechanisms and metal components. The high specialization in Metalforming, Fabrication, Welding, and Finishing, has made of FABTECH Mexico the only show of its kind, and it became the mandatory forum for those seeking innovations in manufacturing to stay competitive and take advantage of the new opportunities that will be offered by manufacturing in Mexico.
